University Of Pretoria (UP) Online Application

The University of Pretoria formerly Transvaal University College is a 113 years old public university. Admission Requirements

There are entry qualifications for specific and chosen programs, however, the school is expectant of prospects to maintain a minimum percentage of 60% to stand the ultimate chance of gaining admission into the prestigious UP.

The University of Pretoria updates its admission requirements for courses offered under Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

Minimum Entry Requirement

  • National Senior Certificate (NSC)
  • Mathematics: 5 (C Symbol: 60%-69%) (Note that Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted)
  • Physical Science: 5 (C Symbol: 60%-69%)
  • English or Afrikaans: 4 (D Symbol: 50%-59%)
  • Life Orientation: 4 (D Symbol: 50%-59%) (Excluded when calculating the APS)
  • Two other subjects: 4 (D Symbol: 50%-59%)
  • An Admission Points Score (APS) of 32
  • Admission test

Postgraduate  Admission Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree OR
  • Admission status of that degree  OR
  • Attained a level of competence
  • Some Schools/Colleges may accept an Advanced Diploma for entry into a Postgraduate Diploma if HEQF  (Higher Education Qualification Framework) requirements are met
  • This is for two consecutive semesters 

Admission Requirement for International Applicants

Bachelor of Honors Degree Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Or an Admission to the status of this said degree
  • Or an attained level of competence

Doctor of Philosophy or Supervised Doctor Degrees by Research

How To Apply To the University Of Pretoria (Online)

The only portal at UP is predominantly for all persons submitting their application for the first time and not for persons who are already students of the school. Applications are opened on the 1st of May of the proceeding year bearing in mind that receiving a student’s number does not guarantee an acceptance into the university.

All applicants must complete all relevant forms before submitting them online. The university will not consider any late application. All applications for undergraduate applications for 2022 are closed.

  • In addition to a proof of payment, mandatory for South African Nationals and International students ( a copy of your Identification card if a national and a passport if you are an international student)
  • A final result of Grade 12 if ready and available and Grade 11 in a case where you are still writing Grade 12

University Of Pretorial Application Fee

Students who apply to the University of Pretoria with a household income lower than or equal to R150 000 per annum will have their application fee waived. However, students that the former does not apply to ought to pay an application fee of R300 for 2023.

The online application system can only access or process payments made from a valid credit card be it Master, Visa, American Express, or Diners Club) information, with just about enough funds.

Application Date

The university has announced that the application to study in 2023 will be fully online. Applications for 2023 will open on April 1st, 2022, and close on June 30th, 2022.

Registration

Students are supposed to pay an amount of R7 500-00 if they are first-timers and renewal for continuing students. This has to be paid so that the registration process can commence.
