Requirements To Apply University of the Western Cape

Before you apply to the University of Westen Cape, you must meet certain standards and these standards are; 

  • If you have written the Matric examination, you need to submit the following documents; 
  • A true copy of your NSC certificate or Senior Certificate
  • A true copy of your document of identification 
  • Your academic transcripts
  • If you are currently improving your NSC results, you must show proof that you are actually doing so.
  • You must also provide a brief description of your activities after writing your matric examination. 
  • All applicants who are re-writing Grade 12 subjects should bear in mind that their applications will be processed using the current grade 12 results. Should there be a case where the applicant has written the Grade 12 examination more than once, then their results must be combined and submitted together with their application.

For transfer students, they are required to submit the following documents; 

  • NSC Certificate 
  • A document of identification 
  • A document showing that the applicant was of good behavior from their institution
  • Certified Academic Transcript
  • A module content book from your institution showing all the modules the applicants have completed
  • If you have a degree certificate, you can submit it as well

If you are applying to the university for readmission, you are required to provide a letter of motivation to be considered for readmission to your respective faculty.


If you are an international student, be sure to do the following; 

  • Your final school results must be submitted to the Universities South Africa (USAF) for an evaluation.
  • Submit a true copy of your passport.
