Applications For SASSA R350 Grant/ How To Apply Online

Online application for South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has opened its application to the general public. Though the application is opened numerous people find it difficult to apply online and as a matter of fact, we have outlined the steps and stages to help a qualified citizen apply for SASSA R350 Grant.

What Is SASSA

As officially created in April 2005, SASSA as popularly know as the South African Social Security Agency responsible to disburse social grants to qualified citizens on behalf of the Department of Social Development.

Who Qualifies To Apply For SASSA R350 Grant

  • South african citizen
  • Permanent resident or refugee registered on home affairs database
  • Persons who are holders of the special permits under the special angolan dispensation, Lesotho exemption permit dispensation, Zimbabwe exemption permit dispensation 
  • Asylum seekers whose section 22 visas or permits are valid or were valid on the 15th of March 2020
  • Currently residing within the borders of the Republic of South Africa
  • Above the age of 18, below the age of 60
  • Unemployed
  • Not receiving any social grant in respect of himself or herself
  • Not receiving an employment insurance benefit and does not qualify to receive an employment insurance benefit
  • Not receiving a stipend from NSFAS and other financial aid 
  • Not receiving any other government Covid-19 response support
  • Not a resident in a government funded/subsidised institution
  • Caregivers who are not receiving any grant on their own behalf will also be eligible to apply for the SRD grant


WHEN CAN I APPLY FOR THE R350 GRANT?

  • The application channels is opened.
  • From 9:00 on Friday, anyone seeking to secure a R350 grant can submit their details for consideration

  • The first payments will, thereafter, be made in the last week of this month – from Tuesday 24 August onwards.

People can apply in one of three ways:

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR R350 GRANT APPLICATION IS REJECTED?

Ultimately, however, perseverance should pay off for the majority. The system may have a few gremlins lurking inside, but once processed by SASSA, the R350 grant will be authorized ‘before the end of this month’. Not everyone will be successful, though – and if your application does get rejected, these will be the next steps in the process:

  • Through the contact details provided to SASSA, applicants will be notified of any unsuccessful appeals.
  • If your R350 grant application has been denied, you can appeal the decision online.
  • To challenge any decision, rejected beneficiaries have to visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za/.
  • Act fast, because you only have 30 days from the date of rejection to lodge your appeal.
  • You need to start a NEW appeal for EACH declined application – nothing will be done automatically.
