Reports reaching indapaper.com indicates that former Zimbabwe president, Robert Mugabe is dead.
Family sources say the late ex-president died on late hours on Wednesday after battling with illness in a hospital in Singapore.
The death of Robert Mugabe comes just a day after President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa told party supporters at a Zanu-PF rally on Saturday that the elderly statesman’s health had deteriorated, partly due to old age.
“Of course, he now is unable to walk, but whatever he asks for we will provide,” said Mnangagwa.
Robert Mugabe was born on February 21, 1924, in Kutama, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). In 1963, he founded ZANU, a resistance movement against British colonial rule.
Mugabe became prime minister of the new Republic of Zimbabwe after British rule ended in 1980, and he assumed the role of president seven years later.
