2020 Ranking of 10 Best Secondary Schools in Namibia

We are pleased to announce our Top 10 Secondary School in Namibia for 2020. This year’s list remains similar to last years in many ways.

This assessment was not only based on academic results but also infrastructure and other factors. Kindly find below the Top 10 Best Secondary School in Namibia 2020

10. Concordia College

Concordia College is a school in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It is situated on Windhoek’s Hochland Road between suburbs of Rocky Crest and Hochland Park. The school facility was privately owned by Consolidated Diamond Mines (CDM, now Namdeb), the Namibian subsidiary of De Beers.

The school was expected to provide education for children judged highly intelligent, with the aim of providing a pool of youths to be educated as teachers. It was operated by the then colonial administration of Namibia. It was the first multi-racial state-operated school in Namibia. Establishment of the facility by De Beers was reflected in the school’s diamond-shaped logo. After independence the school was donated to Government of Namibia. The requirement of an IQ test as a prerequisite for admission was abandoned in 1993.

A high standard of performance is set for learners as well as teachers in the way they perform tasks or conduct themselves on school grounds. This has a positive effect eventually on all aspects academics.

8. Jan Möhr Secondary School

Jan Möhr Secondary School is a school situated in Windhoek, Namibia. The school was founded on March 2, 1962 and is therefore one of the oldest schools in the country. The school is known for its excellent academic record. The school, through its 55-year history, has continued to achieve an annual 90% and 60% pass rate for grade 10 and 12 results respectively.

The school was originally known as the Windhoek West High School(WHHS) but was later changed to Jan Mohr Secondary School, being named after the then Director of Education Mr.JD Mohr. The school’s motto is ‘Altyd My Beste’, which means ‘Always My Best’ when translated into English.Page 4 of 10

7. Otjiwarongo Secondary School 

Otjiwarongo Secondary School is a high school in Otjiwarongo. It frequently produces good results compared to other schools in Namibia. In 2009 the Biology, English, and Mathematics results were among the best in the country. 

In 2012 Otjiwarongo Secondary School was the 23rd best-performing High School in Namibia, in 2013 it occupied rank 12. For the past few years the school has been ranked the number one best performing government school with it’s excellent higher level results.

The school was also ranked 6th best nationally with its ordinary results in 2015 and in 2016 was ranked 4th best nationally.

6. Centaurus High School

Centaurus Secondary School is a high school in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It was founded on 23 January 1962 and started with 175 learners transferred from Windhoek High School. Centaurus High School’s mission is to be the best academic school and to be known for exceptional achievements on all levels.
